Default Aikido Class

Now i take part in Aikido on a casual basis (only 6th Rogkyu), when one day i overheard Sensei talking about making a new website. So as a kind favor i asked him if he would accept if i would take some photos for him for free for the website.

He said that would be great (as funds are always limited) and in turn i get to practice more of my photography skills.

These shots were taken with my Sony Nex 5 with Kit Lens, in a poor lighting area, no flash allowed and basically forced to use 1600 ISO.

I tried to cover up as much noise as i could in PP, but hey you do the best you can right? (REALLY wanting a decent camera and lenses after this photo shoot, so frustrating!)

Interesting images. Have they chosen any yet? I think they would want #2 and #3.

#1 and #4 are too dark (unless their website is on a black background). But, I certainly like #2 and #3 just as they are. They reflect a mood and energy. Since they show the ritual as the subject and not the individual as the subject, I don't feel like I need to see the faces of the individuals. Good work.

The 4 color ones don't do it for me. My mind wants to see the person more clearly.

The fellow in the last shot needs to move his right foot more forward and left.
Shiho Nage is a pretty dynamic throw, and depending on the uke, the fall could potentially kill nage's knee. j/k

God! I miss Aikido! Thanks for this! I was just before receiving my 1st dan before life got in the way, and I had to leave. Boy, this gets the juices flowing again!
