Default My first digital image back in 1998

This was the first digital image I took, it was with a Hassleblad 500CM with their newest (1998) digital back.

The image also got me wondering what type of aircraft. My immediate thought was FB-111, but quickly discarded that. I did a little poking around and I am pretty sure they are Dassault Mirage G. Dassault Mirage G - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Those look more like Tornados. And I do like the picture.

Yeah, I was going to guess Tornados. There aren't all that many swing-wing aircraft out there, and the Tornado is pretty distinctive (to me, anyway). They've always looked like their tail is disproportionately large, compared to the rest of the plane. Anyway, the wiki for RAF sqn 29 indicates that they were flying Tornados at this time, too.

I can agree with that. For me, it would require a peek at the intakes.

It was the tail that did it for me too. Especially at the base where it mounts to the fuselage. It has that weird flute in it that's pretty distinctive.

I meant to mention that this is a pretty impressive photo. I would love to have that point of view someday!

They are indeed Tornado F3s this was their last flyby as they were either on their way to or from the Gulf shortly before been disbanded iirc. The other a/c mentioned were a good close guess as they were from that generation of jets.
The shot was quite simple really, we met the formation a few Km from this spot and were directly above them, when we got close the pilot flipped the jet so I had a clear shot through the canopy and MDC.
The image caused me a few headaches at the time as those little white dots which I thought were dust were infact mooring buoys and ties caused me to strip our minilab printer.
