Hello Steph,
First of all "Welcome" to a great site and a wonderful community, I really hope you enjoy your time here and get stuck in. Seeing as you say your a complete newbie to this hobby I have to say you done a really good job of capturing a moment here. Only thing I would have done different is check where the position of the sun was as I would have taken this from the right hand side and lessened the effect of the shadows across his face. Detail and colour are good and I feel this is a nice image to kick off your new hobby, I look forward to seeing more on here soon, especially seeing as your down in the Pompey area!!! Have fun and keep in touch. David.

I'm with Wamplers. I have absolutely no clue what's going on in the picture and I can't imagine that's what you wanted in your pic. If you were going for a portrait, maybe this would be ok, but for an action shot, I just don't see it.

The image is of a Rugby player waiting for the ball to arrive in a lineout.
To stepyw1,apart from the shadow perhaps have waited another second for the ball to arrive in the frame, may have helped others to understand what was going on. |

Exactly...the lack of a ball breaks this shot for me. I don't follow rugby, thus didn't know what a "lineout" was until googling it after my last post. Even so, had the ball been in the shot I would have at least recognized it was rugby.

Thanks to all for their suggestions. I agree withh all and especially about not getting the ball into shot. Perhaps I should have posted in portraits, anyhow once again thanks and please have a look at my other post titled drive on. I think this is a better shot.
