Default Motion blur, or just blur?

Photobucket

Taken just before dawn in Luang Prabang in very low light. I was panning with the monk in an effort to reduce a bit of motion due to slow shutter speed, but is it enough?

Slight post-processing, including adjusting levels and contrast to eliminate distracting background and cropping for the same reason.

Details:
D100
1/10s
f/5.6
80mm
ISO:1600
Handheld

I also think you did a pretty good job, considering the light levels.

This is a great capture. I personnaly don't mind the blur at all, I think it helps more than you think. Maybe remove some of the noise if you can.
Great job !

Thanks for the noise suggestion, Woods. I've done a quick job in photoshop (my first with reducing noise), and I think it's a definite improvement. Now it makes me want to go back and fix a few other photos as well, considering how easy it is...

I think it is a good shot. For most motion blur shots, I like to see something of significance in focus. The profile of the face against the black background is sharp enough to anchor the the rest of the motion blur in the shot. Here is one of mine. Because the visor on the helmet is sharp, it anchors the rest of the blur in the photo to sugest motion as oppose to just blur.
