Default High School Football

This is my first attempt at any sports photography.
I would like to do more photography of this sort so any feedback, tips, etc, would be greatly appreciated.
There are more photos from the game here, that can be critiqued.

Thanks, and enjoy.

You should try and frame the action a bit better as you have to much area to the left of the runner. You might also want to lessen the saturation.

yes, I agree. try to get rid of any dead space. you can crop the left and off the top a little to keep it in 6x4 ratio. of course it is all ways best to fill the frame with what you want without a crop. This photo is just a bit dark, you could bracket some of your photos next game to get some brighter and darker stuff so you can do your own comparison of what looks good in bright sun.

all your images from the gallery look like you put out some good effort and remind me of what my stuff looked like last year. The things i worked on to get better was to make sure i capture someones face in the shot. Either defense or offense, but someones face makes the shot so much more interesting. The other thing is to fill the frame with your subject. It is difficult when they move around so much, but you will get better shots.

Thanks for the all the feedback guys, very useful stuff.
Unfortunately, the football season is now over, but the track season is just starting to get up and running.

I think the hardest thing for me was just keeping track of the action through the viewfinder, i guess itll just come with experience.

great tip for keeping someones face in the shot too, def something i'll keep in mind for later on.

Hi! I just finished my third year of pee wee football shots. I've learned to move ahead of the ball so I can catch some faces. I also switched to continuous shots so I capture the whole play. The full story is not told in just one shot. I ended the season with about 700 shots per game! But they were worth it and the parents really appreciated it. I also shoot when they're coming off the field to get a better action shot of the individual.
