Default Time for BMX slow sync?

What would you say is a good average shutter speed for Slow Sync Flash? I shot this at 0.8 sec and I'm wondering if this is too short or too long? I had time to shoot 3 or 4 shots so I didn't get to experiment myself.

Pedal Power

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
Exposure: 0.8
Aperture: f/11.0
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV
Flash: On, Fired

Probably too long. I'd start at 1/30s, f/8 and ISO800.
