![]() Thunderbird Engine Warmup on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Do you folks think that I should have zoomed out more to capture the whole airplane? This was my first airshow and was occasionally having a tough time deciding between showing scale and showing detail. Edit: I forgot the info. Shutter: 1/1600 Aperture f6.7 ISO 400 Focal Length 390mm

I like the effects from the heat, but I would also make sure I had a shot of the entire plane, which I am sure you did..... I would think you could get some good detail even with the entire plane in the pic? Anyway, nice pic, makes me sad I missed our airshow Saturday (had to work).......

First of all Adam, "Welcome" to a great community, I hope you enjoy your time here with us all. Now as for the image. I would have maybe liked to have seen the whole tail of the F16 but think you captured a good moment in time here. I love the colors and motion, it's sharp and the lighting is cool, so no don't think you needed the whole aircraft at all to be honest. Thanks for sharing it with us and I really look forward to seeing more soon. Have a great time here.
David.

hey adam. i like it as is. I have had the fortune to spend most of my life at airshows all over the place and sometimes forget to just enjoy them for what they are. I often end up seeing hundreds of pics and they are all the same! Whole aircraft lost somewhere in the frame, or formation aerobatics. The reason I like what you have done here is that it isolates the issue at hand. Everybody has seen a photo of a jetfighter (static or in flight). You don't have here a photo of a jet. you have a groundcrewman caught in the act with a story being told. The story is not just another airplane.
