Default Roger Federer

Hey, took this photo early this year - everyone of my friends and family seem to love it and consider it quite "professional". However, I am curious to know what needs to be improved for it to actually be considered professional?

Exif Data:
f/ 7.1
Shutter: 1/1000th
focal length 86mm.
2600 x 3888 pixels (dimensions)

Thanks.

From Luke - I have been shooting for a year and love sports photography (surf and tennis) but also love landscape photography etc. Was wondering what it takes to become a pro in the sporting industry? (just if anyone happens to know)

It does a great deal! It helps others to know what your settings were in case they wanted to offer you alternate settings (and it is asked for in the guidelines)

the image is too small to give any decent comment on.

i agree with the other two, this image is so small that i cant tell much from it, you might want to think about uploading a slightly larger size

Too much dead space. You need to fill the frame more with the player, but still have the ball in the shot.

i agree with what the others have said here, a closer crop would've been better.

but then, of course, given the possible equipment limitation (i.e. lens wasn't long enough to zoom), then you may want to reconsider the subject of your photo. instead of trying to focus on the player, since you can't zoom in on him as much, try to make sure the background adds to the overall photo.

maybe try to see if you can include a shot of fans carrying a streamer or in the color of the swiss flag, or perhaps the scoreboard indicating the progress of the match.

if you know what you can and can't do (or shoot) with your gear, you could end up producing even better photos.

Infact, i like it very much, although, i hardly know from where is the appreciation coming : my love for federer or that i really liked the pic. But one thing i am sure of is that the pic is complete. However, i would have loved a bigger one.
