Default New York City Break Dancing

Was at the statue of liberty the other day and found a group from Spain break dancing. They were so pumped when I started taking their photos. This my first time taking dace photos. The one below is my favorite. What do you think? What could I have done better?
Would love to know what others have done to create other affects on a shoot like this. I didn't have any filters so couldn't play to much, but would love to see other examples.

You can checkout the entire set on my Flickr page: New York City Break Dancing - a set on Flickr

The lighting was really bad for that, and I will be honest I didn't really care about the statue. You see it so much that it becomes blah...would have been a good idea.

The freeze action is great! However I would have shot a few that showed motion blur as they spin. Maybe 1/80 or 1/100th.

Great shots! I didn't even know people still Break Danced? Did they have Herbie Hancock rockin in the background? lol

I tried a few with motion blur but with the direct sunlight they were really over exposed. I think I may need a ND filter for that. Any other ideas for getting that effect in daylight?

Obviously lower your ISO as low as possible, and maybe close down your aperture a stop or two in Manual Mode.

For motion blur, a polarizing filter or ND filter would also help slow down the shutter. And if these dancers are moving as quickly as I assume, then mayber something faster than 1/100th would still give some blur.

For the composition, I'm still trying to figure out whether or not I like the guy in the read shirt. Sometimes, I think it adds a nice contrast and gives a good sense of depth. But at other times, that red really draws too much of my attention. Sorry for being indecisive here.

It's a very nice photo. Good work.

On you flickr set, I really like Dance2, since the dancer's face is well-lit and visible, and since the pose is so cool.
