Default Waterskiing

Took this of a friend while out on Indian Arm in BC. My main area for critique would be the framing of the shot.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/2000)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 70 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV

***, this is nice

Too bad that his face is so dark, but than again, all that gives the special emotion to the image.

Subject is in the center, but since we have the feeling that he is coming forward, and not left, I think it's ok, so the framing is really ok. You could try to crop on the left, but I think there's no reason for that.

Personally, I would like to have seen the edge of the spray on the left rather than the falling spray and rope on the right. Shifting the view to looker's left would also have moved the skier from the middle of the shot to the right hand third - roughly.

I like the silhouette effect. I shot a picture such as yours on film about 10 years ago that I really liked. I like the way that the roostertail brings you into the skier.

Hi, I really like that one !

just love the giant cascading wave effect, and how the dude if framed, and the darkness behind

- only real improvement may perhaps suggest is just a little more light on main subject/his face (e.g. as in guess photoshop him just a tad, if u know how), but dont feel its necessary either

- possible experiment - almost be tempted to tryout making a little bit of a panorama (just a little) - e.g. by cropping out a little of the bottom and see what happens ?

I was going for a silhouette look, thus making the rooster tail the focus of the shot, and not vise-versa.

I too would have liked to include more of the left edge, however, this shot was taken from onboard a moving boat where not only was I photographing, but spotting.

I like the "panorama" idea, I'll have to give it a shot

+1 on the left edge...and maybe zoomed in a little more, otherwise great shot, and great spray!
