I was learning to shoot action / panning. I would like to ask for suggestions for better panning shot settings. Is the perspective and composition ok? did i use the right ISO and aside from AWB what would have worked better? was the focal length of 50 ok or should i have used a longer one? Other comments are welcome. Thanks.

Rick

Use ISO and WB that seam OK for the current moment. Every paning image is different. So, you can not have one setting memorised for all the times.

About this particular image - well, it has its negative sides, but for practiceing - you've done good job.

hi rick i think you are on the right track with this shot ,i am far from being a expert on photography but to me i think the dark coloured van in the background could be the problem as i notice that the metering mode setting in the exif was set for multi would this give you the lack of separation between the face area of the rider and the van in the background .as for composition i think it is good. as for panning i think you have got it right ,the photo gives a distinct feeling of motion.the girl on the back of sends a shudder down my spine though ie light tee shirt and lightweight shoes on a motorcycle notice the rider is fully protected.any way keep up the practicing and trying different camera settings it pays of in the end all the best kym
