Did you try taking the same shot at a faster shutter speed? Still without a tripod it isn't easy. Did you try to lean the camera against the wall or did you lean agaist it? If you could brace the camera against something it usualy works better. Hope that helps.

I would have gone with a faster shutter, it was probobally a little dark, and you didn't want a flash, right? Go with like an ISO greater than 400, shutter speed around 10-100, ev adjusted, and a lower aperture (lower= bigger)

I do like your shot very much.
Believed or not, this is what many people call "creative movement". You have a single man sitting on the chair, all by him self, no girl to dance with. Hi, in some way is in focus and the rest showing nice movement. If every one on this shot is in focus, than it would be another snap shot. You have show movement, loneliness of the man. YOU DID TELL A STORY !!!! And this is what the photography is all about. PS. On top of this i just noticed lonely girl sitting all by herself (top of the picture) on the sofa...Nice.. If you wish to change something - try to change white balance and contrast. Nice shot....

I'm with wombat. I think this is a very good idea. You've got the lone guy, the lone girl, the couple up on the balcony, the couple lounging in the far corner. I don't mind the lights - they don't distract me and it doesn't matter that they're slightly overexposed as your subject[s] are properly exposed.
To make it better I think the WB needs adjusted it definately feels a bit orange to me, but perhaps this adds to the effect. Having a tripod would make your not-moving subjects sharper but you already know that. If you wanted to get fancy and even out the lighting you could bounce a flash (or flashes) off the ceiling, still using your slow shutter speed to get the motion blur. Then you could use a smaller aperture and increase your DOF.
