Default Rollerskate and exposure time

Hi,
I was near Notre Dame in Paris, the sun was shining (but it was a little bit clouded) and this guy was roller skating.

Being extremly new to the world of DSLR, I thought "sport = small exposure time".
So I set my Canon 450D to Tv and set it to the smallest possible (1/4000s) and bam!:

Misc Info :
- shot in raw
- recroped in LR
- White balance in LR : "Shaded" + "Auto" Tonality

My question is : How could I make this photo more vibrant?
It does not seem under exposed, but I have the feeling that
with the bright sun we had it could have been more "vibrant". Is 1/4000 really too low ?
Any help on this point is welcome.

He was a skater boy...

EXIF :
Camera: Canon EOS 450D + 50mm prime lense
Exposure: 1/4000 sec
Aperture: f/2.0
Focal Length: 50 mm
Exposure: 0.00
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Exposure Program: Shutter speed priority AE

1/4000 is really much faster than you need for this kind of stuff. anywhere from 1/1000-1/2000 would've been fine and would've either increased your aperture or decreased the iso. At 50mm, f/2, and estimating 15 ft to subject your DOF would be about 2 feet (using an online calculator) so that shouldn't really be a problem, but the image looks soft, did you sharpen at all? Try a curves adjustment to give it some more edge? To me, on my monitor, it doesn't look underexposed. But, to a point, the right exposure is wherever you want it. I think you could go a little brighter and be fine but its whatever suits you and conveys the moment.

Red this with interest. I am quite often shooting fast moving objects.. weather its cars or other things and I always have the problem of motion blurr. This was very interesting to read and the image is awesome btw. xx
