I took this shot for a parent of a kid that races in my class. I Did a little editing in light room to make the blacks deeper. How could I compose this shot differently to make it look better? I know I should not have my subject in the middle of the frame but i think it looks good because you get the feel of the dirt and how rough it is.

I think you've got a pretty nice picture. Focus, exposure, DOF - all the things you didn't ask about look really nice.
For the comp, it feels kind of head-on. I'd try and get more of a profile view - the rooster tail will be even more pronounced and people will notice the front wheel coming up. Bonus points if you can get an angle where he's coming out of a turn. Also I'd get lower, but I tend to get low for everything so maybe thats just me. It would make it more dynamic though. Also, for the current framing, I would've panned left and waited to snap until the rider was blocking that blue barrel. I also think you can get the feel for how rough the dirt is without putting him in the middle of the picture.

Thank you and this part of the track had a S turn so two frames after i snaped this one he was all ready on the brakes. I hate the blue barrel as well i was going to de-saturate it so you could not see it but i dont like to do that. I have a couple that are from a lower angle at home ( im at school now) but when i get home ill post them up. Thanks again
