I went to a roller derby last night and took a lot of pictures. The venue was REALLY dark and the action was REALLY fast-paced, so I took along my Digital Concepts fill flash and attached it to the camera using the tripod mount. Here are the images straight off of my SD card with no editing (honestly I'm kind of disappointed).
I realize I don't have the budget for a dSLR but is there anything you might suggest to help these images either by adjusting a setting on the camera or doing something in GIMP (post-production)? I'd love it if someone tooled around with these images and showed me some really compelling results if you have time. http://danieladougan.webs.com/apps/p...lbumid=5265497 Feel free to critique some of my other shots (I'm more proud of these so maybe you'll just enjoy them)! http://danieladougan.webs.com/apps/p...lbumid=4120320 |

The idea is nice but none of the shots except the B4U really caught my eye. They are all very noisy and out of focus. I would like to know what your EXIF files look like because when using a flash, you should have been able to use a lower ISO setting and faster shutter speed to freeze the action and make the shot less noisy. For the B4U shot, i would try some portrait croping to get rid of unnecesary back ground.
