Default Contemplate

It's been months since I posted anything on here, so here goes..

I took this with a mates camera while we were out riding. I'm wondering about a couple of aspects. Firstly, how does the vignette and label in the bottom right look? (it's the first time I have added any sort of logo to my photos, so let me know what you think)

Also, there was a lot of dust in the air when I took the shot. I burned the rider, but is there anything else I can do to bring out the jump?

Thanks everyone

Except for the rider (which you said you dodged) the whole thing looks a bit overexposed to me. I think the lighting is what's hurting this shot the most. Off-camera flash would def improve it as you could light your subject and the jump, and the overexposed background would fall off a couple stops. Usually I'd get the lurkers out of the photo, but they kind of add to the story... you know this guys not sure he wants to hit this and the friends are always egging you on "just hit it man it's cake..." so maybe having them is alright for this one - they kind of tell a story. Your tag is awesome, looks very cool. I don't really like the vignette it's not subtle and I don't usually like vignette anyway - my preference.

I'ts a cool story though, I'm really wondering if he ever hit it... Did he hit it?! How many times before he landed it?

Yeah an external flash is top of my wish list at the moment. I have many many shots I can't wait to try when I finally get one.

I agree with you on the vignette. I revisited the photo a couple of days after I edited it, and it's way too much... I'll have to redo it for sure. Glad you like the tag though mate, and thanks for your thoughts..

To end the story, he didn't get the stones to hit it that day... but a few of us did though (myself included , but no photos of me)

Shooting into (or more or less into) the sun isn't easy.

I wonder what the composition would've looked like if you moved to the left, so that the one doing the "contemplation" was to your right and the sun was over your left shoulder? Enough room to get everything in the shot that way? If so, the exposure might be a bit easier to handle.

I like your sig, It doesn't detract from the shot. And glad you landed it, too.

I like this shot. It's cool. Great angle. I love the sunlight shining through the trees. A bit overexposed...but still a great shot.

I honestly didn't really think about moving to that angle... I think there might have been a tree a bit close on that side, but it's something I'll check out next time I'm there. If I shot from the other side I don't know what the sun would have looked like on the dust in the air.

Anyway, it will give me something to try out next time. Thanks for the suggestion!
