Generally with panning shots a longer shutter speed is necessary. I think in your image it works but I think having a little longer shutter speed 1/60 or 1/30th could have been more effective. A longer shutter speed will blur the legs more however so it's a personal preference. I also would be careful to include the entire runner within the frame. Right now a little bit of his right heel is cut off in the frame. A technique I use for panning that works pretty well is to prefocus the lens using manual focus. Then as the object is moving toward you track it with the camera. Keep panning the camera THEN press the shutter button down while you maintain the correct speed to keep the object frozen within the frame.

Agree with Murtasma on all points. Also, I'd think about cropping equally on both sides to lose the glove on the right, but maintain balance of negative space on the left.

I thought about cropping the glove out, but then he doesn't have much space to run into.

Were you on the field with the players? Love the angle of the shot. I agree with the foot that should be in the shot but for the rest, i like it the way it is.
