Good action, you need to crop tighter. There's way too much wasted space at the bottom and left hand side of the photo.

He's dead right your Maj! You were placing your action at the third line weren't you? If you crop to the action you are still going to get Lots of things on third lines (knees on lower horizontal, larger girl on right vertical and so on but you also get rid of a lot of distractions. Sometimes it pays to listen to the experts (but always think about what they say and think about it and think about it again. Then decide if they are right )

Overall I think this is an excellent shot! It's so clear even when viewed large. The moment you caught is priceless. Would look even better perhaps with a tighter crop, as mentioned in the above posts.

A shot I would be proud of.
Great job!

It's amazing the faces you catch during sports.

But like others said, a tighter crop would be nice. I would also get lower, kneel, sit, whatever. I tend to sit on the floor and rest by back on the wall behind me.

thanks for your thoughts guys.

Jim by a tighter crop i think you mean in post processing, is that right? if so will do.

The other person who mentioned about kneeling. I will try that when i get my 70-200 2.8. With a 50 mm prime lense you have to be almost on the side lines to fill the shot and i needed to be able to get out of the way quickly if necessary.

Still feeling my way with the nikon d60 its so much different to the fuji finepix. but then again so much better in low light like basketball stadiums than the finepix.

It's a neat shot. Perhaps I dont' watch enough bball, but what's going on in this shot?

I'm going to be teh contrarian and say I like it better like this. I think it would feel claustrophobic if it were cropped tighter.

Yes it in both PP and best to do it, if you can in the Camera's viewfinder. Ya gonna love that 70-200mm lens. I use the 28-70, 70-200 and sometimes the 300mm 2.8. Can't tell just just how many times I've been run into or had to dodge players at the last moment.
