Default A boxer lady!

when we went for field trip which was boxing gym hall...i found a lady who later smiled after i took her picture..and i said thanks.. howwver it was in Film SLR camera..but i had my Nikon D40 so i took some pictures quickly..and here is one i felt like portrating about boxing game and my subject look.I wanted to know about the ISO required..and about lighting if anyone can explain.I sharpen little i guess..and cropped a bit..hope i posted it in right section.Thanks!

Wow, great that you were able to get some photographs here! I know lighting in gyms can be tricky. Next time try a smaller aperture number (wider open) to let more light in and bring that shutter speed up a bit.

In terms of the composition, maybe next time try another angle that captures the movement better. Maybe off to the side so she is framing one end and the bag is on the other side of the frame. Or get closer to her face to see her face up close. Also, the background is a bit distracting.

Great effort though!

You might have been at the limits of your lens and not able to open up any more but the ss of 1/30 is just too slow for a crisp photo in low/poor light especially action.

I agree as well that you need a bigger apeture, something in the 1's or 2's instead of 5.6

the largest aperture i had was 5.6 i guess..its 18-55 mm one..i was certain picture will come wierd..however it was a try ..and i understand little more lately.thanks for the comments guys i apprecate it

good photo!






if you cropped it, i think you could crop it on the right side a little bit, where the bag is on the very edge of the photo. instead of the little area between the bag and the edge.
but it is still a great photo
