Default Paragliding first sports attempt

Hi all,

This is the first attempt at sports photography. I would like some feedback on the composition please - feedback on any possible improvements?

Paragliding from Crackneck - Forresters Beach

EFIX:
Nikon D60
f/4.5
Shutter: 1/1000
ISO: 1/100
Focal length: 80.0

Thanks in advance,
Kristy

I don't have much experience in sports photography myself, but I like this photo. I think the composition really works well.

Well for one thing its an @ss shot. Even if you didn't communicate with this guy and couldn't have set something up to change the view its still a valid point to critique - I think the shot would be much better, like 2000% better, if the subject was facing us rather than looking away.

The leading lines idea is kind of cool and the current composition could probably work for me if it wasn't an @ss shot. But I think you need to show the glider. I mean even if you show the glider you're still going to have the lines leading you from the glider down to him and I think it would be much less akward.

Hopefully my critique doesn't sound mean, it's just my opinion. I know if it were my photo I would want to hear something more than "great job ". I'd want to hear something that would make me think about other aspects of the image I made and ways to possibly improve.

I like this shot. The composition works for me and I find the lack of paraglider in the photo to add a lot of interest and wonder. The lines run nicely into the edges of the frame and contrast with the richness of the blue sky.
