Default Flying on the Rings

I took this a couple months ago while I was getting my car fixed ($500 for a side mirror? Seriously?!?). Went down to the beach and there was this beautiful woman swinging on the rings, powerfully an gracefully. Taking shots of her really made what should have been a crap day a pretty fun one.

This was one of my favorite shots of her, and while I really like the action in the shot I feel like technically it could be better. I used the on-camera flash cause it was all I had, but an off camera flash would have been nicer and let me expose the clouds a bit darker with more contrast. So do you guys think that would improve it?

Also, I think it would have been nice to get closer to her and make her more prominent, but I also like seeing the structure of the rings. So would a wider lens (something I plan to invest in soon) have made this better? Or would just a tighter push in on her do the trick?

Any other tips?

Wow. Great shot! Love the composition and how you captured her in mid swing like that. Very nice!

I think it could be that she's swinging out of the frame... you're right that the structure of the rings really brings a lot to the shot, so I wouldn't suggest a crop, but I kinda wish she were swinging the other way.

I love that its just the structure and the sky.. feels very isolated and simple

I love this. I've never seen anything like it before and that is definitely a good thing in this case. She really looks like she's in control up there. Only negative is that it looks a little underexposed but like you said, at the time there was nothing you could do about it. We're luck you got this shot.
