Bought my first DSLR and took it on a trip to South Africa.
This is my first attempt at sports photography. These shots were taken on the way down to Cape Aghulas, the southernmost point of Africa. I struggled to get a good picture as they whipped by - this was my best shot. Would be grateful for any tips. The sun is glaring excessively off the water. Any way to prevent that or edit it? |

I am new to this too but it would be good if you included EXIF info to help.
Maybe a Lower ISO or smaler aparture to let less light in could have done the job. I like the composition (great action) Thank you for sharing, it makes me forget the cold weather here.

Great shot,Hope you enjoyed your tripto S Africa,I sailed past Cape Augulas in a raging storm, what a place.
I was recently down at Surfers Paradice Gold Coast Queensland to take a few shots of the kite surfers,as this was my first shoot with kite surfers at a distand I got a few good shots biut the water also seemd to be rather bright. I however set my camera to auto for the best results.I also found an iso of 200 with a shutter speed of 500 + also gave me some great shots.I think that with the use of a poloroid filter The shots would have been a lot mere acceptable.I use a Sigma 150 to 500 lense with no filter at the moment on a Canon 40D. Cheers ex S African |

I love the composition of that shot!
I reckon a polarising filter would've helped, by reducing some (or most) of the reflection of the sun off the water. It would've made the water look more blue/green too. If you live near the beach, and you plan on taking regular pictures that involve the sea, then I'd say that a polariser is a must-have... Russ.
