Default JV football action shot

Just checking to for any further advice on getting nicer action photos or even post editing for these. Thanks in advance.

Looks to me as if the running back is a tad out of focus and his blocker to right a few back is in focus. If you not using the rear button focus that might be your problem. Here read this:
rear focus button - Google Search. I've been using this method since 2003 and I get more images in locus than not.

I agree with Jim (I think he is enjoying his beer as your photos is out of "locus"). I'm unsure how fast your AF is and it may be having a hard time keeping up. I have an inexpensive kit zoom lens and I am practicing my sports too. It can be done with a bit of practice.

Find out how to do the back button focus, it really helps out. My keeper rate is increasing (about 20% in focus) the more I shoot. I'm actually going out again in a few min to a Freshman game to practice some more.

I do like the crop of the pic.

Keep at it and post after your next time.

Ha..........that's why I love auto focus cameras! Doesn't matter who ripped I get, the images are still in focus.
