Nice photo. That one threw me a bit -- it doesn't look like a plane the Blue Angels ever flew. Mystery solved:

I like the creative crop. It enhances the feeling of movement across the frame.

I'm guessing this was cropped in tighter from a larger file with more sky. If that's the case, I might like to see the plane a bit more to the left with more smoke behind it. It also looks a little underexposed to me. A bit of brightness/exposure adjustment might make the yellow pop more.

P.S., remember to read the sticky rules and adjust the post accordingly.

Thanks! It was a fly over at the start of a race I was at.

Thanks, I will try that later and post!

Your subject here is fairly significantly underexposed. This is often a problem when shooting aircraft, since the camera will normally expose for the sky, which is nearly always brighter than the airplane. You need to either dial in some exposure compensation or wait until the near side of the aircraft is illuminated.

Also, I think the aspect ratio is interesting, but this is the aircraft equivalent of "guy in the sky" sports photography. A better photo will have some sort of context or interest other than just the plane: clouds, other aircraft, the flight line as the plane goes past, a bent smoke trail as the plane breaks, enough detail to see the pilot, something.

Finally, in addition to the exif data and a question about the photos you put up for critique, the critique section rules specify a single photograph per day for the entire critique section. Critique takes thought and effort, "a decent respect to the opinions of [critics] requires that [posters] should [pay attention to the rules]."
