Default An Old Train Yard

I've passed this old train yard many times without stopping and thought it's about time to take some pictures. Yes, I know it's a steam power steam roller, But I could not resist.
Since I learned about the Curves tool, I have been wanting to try it out. I took the pic on a hazy day with a UV filter. Then using Canon's process app, I used Curve to lighten them a bit. I will post a before and after shot so you can see what I did.

I appreciate your opinion, it's the only way I will learn and get better at Photography.
Thanks.

What I did not include is the first shots were at shutter speed 1/60, F/11, ISO 400, FL-39mm, Exposure Bias - 0
The only difference is FL of 34mm on the second set.
Using Canon T1i with 18x55mm.
Krieg.

In my opinion you should focus a little more on composing the shot. Both of your images have lots of clutter in the background. Since you drive by here often enough why dont you go back and try photographing the same subjects while holding the camera closer to the ground, that way you get rid of a cluttered background by replacing it with sky, and hopefully gain a more interesting perspective by shooting from a lower vantage point. Open up that aperture too for more depth of field . Just my $0.02

1/60th wasn't fast enough, none of your shots are "tack" sharp. If you're handholding, you need to either brace yourself better, turn on VC if it's not, or just get a tripod.

You could also punch the colors up a little to bring out the rust better.

Never give up
