Asking something specific will help a great deal. Not only is it asked for in the guidelines but also helps everyone else to know what sort of help you are wanting

Yes, understanding what aspects you want critiquing will be useful...

Generally I think the title and the image certainly have a strong story telling aspect, it leaves the reader with a lot of questions - who are they, what do they do, is this simply a climber or a professional or is this some other industrial job?

I can't help feeling that the hands and the stone are a little over sharpened, especially given the softness of the secondary layer in the photo.

This photo was taken after a week of climbing in Montana, I noticed the condition of my buddy's hands and thought it would make a good photo. I used the macro setting on the camera to get the hands and didn't really consider dof. Also, I did sharpen it a bit with Photoshop. I will try a softer look to see how it looks.

Thanks!

I love it just the way it is. It's perfect! The tape on the hands really makes the photo

You could try to soften it a bit and see what you think but I actually like the surrealistic sharpness of it. It adds to the story of how extreme the situation is - clearly this person has and is working hard and is doing everything he can to keep it up. (I'm a major tape fan myself....) Nice job. You saw something that told a story and went with it.

Great shot. I wouldn't change anything technically.

I am drawn to the climber's eye between his thumbs and would like to see more of the facial expression.

Its a great photo, the only change i would have made is to get more of the climbers face in the photo and have it slightly less blurred.
