I took this photo at an improv dance/music event inside a dark cafe. At max aperture 2.8 and ISO3200 I could only get 1/50 shutter speed. I'm pretty new to photography but maybe if I used a flash I could've got a higher shutter speed? Was a pretty small venue though, so didn't want to attract too much attention. Also, I had the drive mode set to AI Servo AF but was in Av Priority with 2.8. Would shutter priority been best?

Any tips on composition/camera settings, etc. very welcomed!

I like the composition of the shot and the lighting. Unfortunately because of the lighting, there wasn't enough light and there is some blur.

In this sort of setting I usually zoom out and take the photo, then crop it later. This may be what you did but if not, you could try that. I tend to get better photos in poor light situations when I do this.
