Was using a ND8 filter in very bright conditions on my 70-200mm, wondering what you think of the over all color and expousure of the photo, any tip and comments welcome.

thanks,
mike

I like the photo although the snow is somewhat gray.

I think it's a bit under-exposed but that could be due to the ND filter. Where you are using a fast shutter speed I don't think that the ND filter is needed. The ND filter works great for a wide open, long shutter shots but I would suggest taking the ND filter off and then adjusting your exposure from there. I usually use a UV and Polarizing filter went shooting snow sports.

You could easily save this shot in a post processing program. (Lightroom)

Cheers! Well done and keep shooting.

In addition to removing the ND filter, meter off the snow. It will meter to 18% gray so you will then need over expose by a stop or 2.

The depth of field is quite distracting as well. id like to see most if not all of the snow in focus.

I disagree with the focus comment...I like the way it is focused I think I would like it cropped in tighter to the snowboader though!

Focus is fine IMO, I would like to see 1 of 2 things, either more snow with the rider smaller in frame so that you can appreciate just the rider and the mountain, OR get closer so you can see the snow kicking up and relish the detail, the crop is just kind of in between for me, manual your white balance too, though im one to talk im terrible about that myself...
