Specific question: ruh roh

First thing I notice is the banding in the sky. Not sure if that's there in the full-size image or if it's an artifact of compressing for the web.

Second thing I notice is there's a lot of dead space top and bottom. I like where the chopper is positioned left-to-right in the frame, but the bland runway and the blown sky don't do much for me.

I think this could be more interesting if you got in closer and provided more detail of the chopper and the hangars in the background. Or, if you shot this early in the day or later at night with some golden light. Or, if you picked a partly cloudy day so there was some drama to the sky.

i think it looks very military and functional like, which fits the subject. Yet it still has a hint of art. Me likes.


But fix the banding issue.
