I think the number one thing that would make this shot better is lose the bleachers in the background. Too many people back there and that takes away from the action up front.

Look for a different position next time and think about what is going to be in the background before shooting and I bet you will notice a big difference.

And the RB's foot is cut off. Avoid that.

Other than that, I do like the handoff shot.

Move downfield in back of the defensive line and get pictures either of the running back blasting through the hole and running to daylight or getting creamed by the defense. If your team is on defense, get about 10-20 yards back behind the opposing team's offense and you'll able to get pictures of interceptions, quarterback sacks or the running back getting creamed. Always ask yourself, "How can I improve this picture?" Different positions, lower angles a more shallow f-stop, higher shutter speed might help.

Good advice!

Please take a peek at the guidelines and get familiar with what should be included in your posts. Thank you!

Cari - I would have to agree with Jim on the very basic approach . . . being in position to get the best possible shot:

An "East/West" backfield handoff shot is nice . . . .

. . . . but a "North/South" backfield handoff shot is nicer

2010 Football Wilmot at FH

And an "East/West" running back shot is nice . . . .

2010 Football Wilmot at FH

But any "North/South" running back shots are just a little nicer . . . . .

2010 Football Wilmot at FH

Hope that helps you out.
