Default Swimmers Take your Marks

Hi all,
I was hoping for some feedback on composition, how does it make you feel and overall impression of light/sharpness. Critique first image please. Moderators is this ok? Thanks, Joelle

I liked the high shutter speed- you really did a good job of freezing that moment in time.

You could definitely crop in tighter. There's a lot of room at the bottom of the image that isn't doing too much.

Also, it looks like the sun is at the swimmer's back (or directly overhead). Next time, try shooting from the other end of the pool so that the swimmer's face get's lit up. It's a bit dark on this one. You'd probably also get some cool reflections in her goggles that way.

Thanks so much for the feedback, wondering about the light. I did leave in the space to confer movement yet to go. Joelle

You might want to try setting the camera to spot meter and metering off the swimmer's face so it comes out properly exposed. You could crop off some of the left and still get that sense of movement and space to move within.

The main thing I see is the swimmer being too dark. Hope you don't mind, but I did a quick tweak in LR3 to brighten the swimmer a bit and add a touch of contrast. If you object, PM me and I'll remove the image.
