welcome to critique, irawan....

please take a moment to read our faq's for the rules of critique as well as how to post an image from flickr.....you'll find that there are a few requirements that you'll need to add to this thread.....

i've already added in your exif.....now, tell us a little bit about your image.....what you like or don't like.....that should lead you to a good solid question for our members to work from....

thanks!

What is the plural of digeridoo? Digeridoos, direridooes or digeridi? Doesn't matter; this is an interesting picture as I never seen someone try to play multiple digeri-thingies and I have never seen them set up for amplification. As for the picutre, you need to keep in mind that our eyes are attracted to the areas of highest contrast, which in this case would be the area where the digeridoo-s meet the jack stand. We may have liked the area where man meets digeridoos to be on at least equal footing but the vignetting prevents that. I know that the vignetting is there partly to hide the fact that there are some blown out areas but there other ways to deal with that.

Thanks Peeper, apologies for my mistakes. I should have read the rules and regs first before posting something.

I wasnt really sure about the manual setting with my lens when I took a very contrast image, I mean under direct sun and under the shades. How if I want the object under the sun to be as clear as the one under the shades? Thank you.

Hi Lee, when you visit Australia dont forget to visit Darwin, the Top End of Australia in the Northern Territory in dry season. We have the best markets in the world called Mindil beach sunset market. This digeridoos man playing multiple with electro percussions is awesome. I even bought their CD and played them at home a lot.

We got some insight into the backstage workings at American Idol this year when one of the performers wanted to be accompanied with a digeridoo. Apparently there is a man who is contracted to find musicians to play whatever instruments are needed for the show. He couldn't find anyone to play the digeridoo on short notice so he decided to play it himself; I mean, how hard can it be to play an intrument that one plays one note? Halfway through the song he realized his mistake when he nearly passed out from lack of breath. Digeridoos require tremendous wind power and even for this experienced horn player the digeridoo turned out to be a much bigger challenge than expected.

I think you did a good job with selecting the aperture..enough to blur the audience so that they are not distracting, but not enough so that you don't know what/who they are. I think you were significantly hindered by the contrast of the shot..the audience is a touch too hot and the subject a touch too dark....This might be saved by post, shadows/highlights adjustment maybe.
I think a different vantage point might have been better..something that showed him really working the instrument/ A frontal shot would have emphasized the bulging cheeks. this kinda looks like he's standing up to a mic...

Getting a note out of a didgeridoo is relatively easy, once you accept the concept of basically making a farting noise with your mouth into a big tube. Getting the variety sounds out of it isn't too hard either - you just change the shape of the inside of your mouth and make noises with your own voice at the same time as blowing the farting noise..

The difficult bit is learning how to breathe in through your nose while blowing out through your mouth. Took me AGES to get that one together.

And great - thanks Irawan - now I can't stop singing "Indigeri-doo, indigeridoo, indigeri digeri diger-do" to myself!

Curse you, Ricky Wong, and your catchy lyrics!
