Default Another MMA shot

Here's another shot from the other night (working my way through the shots). My biggest complaint is I didn't capture his elbow but I like the story the faces tell. The guy on the bottom is not looking comfortable at all and the guy on top is working hard to make him more uncomfortable.

f2.8
1/160
ISO 1000

Great capture of the action. I don't find the elbow a problem because you got the inside of the elbow (not sure what you actually call that part of the arm), so I think it works. If I were to suggest anything different, I'd like to see the hands frozen, but I can see the appeal of them being blurred as well.

Great capture. The only suggestion I have would be to crop the image to remove the onlookers to the left.

Great shot.........and terrific lighting. When I shot an MMA event for the local paper, the lighting was horrible (overhead spot lighting) and external flashes were not allowed. My only comment..crop tighter for impact. See this cropped version.

I like the blurred hands, it shows a sense of action...that this wasn't just posed for a magazine shoot or something. Maybe this is just personal opinion, but I like a little bit of blur in most sports photos.

I do agree about the cropping though. I think a tighter crop (lose the audience in the background) would give the shot more impact.

Thanks. Sometimes I like a little blur, sometimes I don't. Haven't really decided if this blur bothers me or not.

I had thought about bumping my ISO a bit to get a little more out of my shutter speed but didn't do it (obviously). I think I will do that next time.

I agree, however, I didn't crop that out for two reasons--going to try and sell prints and, if they want an 8x10, I'll need that extra space for that crop and I'm also trying to sell some photos to the promoter to use for his upcoming programs. The sign with the name is the promoter's company. Otherwise, I'd crop it right out.

Usually, the shows I'm at are HORRIBLY lit. This was was lit up quite well (as you can see). I have two more shows confirmed for next month but there is another I'm working to get myself into.

The good news is, I represent a few fighters and I can always get myself cageside at their fights for great shots.
