Default Diving Catch

I lucked out and was focusing on the shortstop when he made the line drive catch of the game. Wish I would have been on the first base side but... What photo do you like better?

A: With the ball just out of the glove and some view of the shortstop's face or
B: Parallel to the ground with ball in glove?

A:

Or

B:

Thanks for your opinions and C&C.

A. It's a much faster read. "Player dives for ball." True, there's a bit of anticipation over whether he'll catch the ball or not, but that's what makes it interesting. In shot B, you see that he catches the ball and there's a bit more air under the player, but it lacks the will he/won't he tension of the first one.

True, a shot from the 1st base line would have been outstanding, but this shot is great as is. I'd love to walk away from a game with that shot in my pocket. Nice job, man.

First shot is better as the ball is easily seen in the frame, you can see a little of the player's face and you even see the little bit of dirt kicked up when he jumped.

The photo is a bit flat. I'd probably add some contrast and maybe a smidge of saturation.

Other than that, the guys in the back of the pickup are the only other complaint but you can't really do much about that.

Great capture!

Definitely A because you can see the face. I might crop some from the top just to see if it works better.

I definitely like A the best - it has more action, you can see the players face and that he has his eye on the ball, you can see that he is about to catch the ball, his whole body is moving to get the ball, and there is a little kick up of sand. Great work.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the feeedback.

I agree the guys in the pickup are a bit distracting. However after he makes the catch, the guys in 2nd pickup tell the story as he comes up looking to double the man off first.

Thanks again for the comments.

I like the one with the ball in the frame and in focus.
