We had a cloudy day today and I went to my local park to shoot some people playing tennis. I turned up the ISO to 1600 for a faster shutter speed and I got some shots with which I was pleased by the increased sharpness. I did notice some graininess, but it didn't bother me. Here is a cropped shot. I used Gimp to auto-adjust the color. Now my question is this: Does anything stand out to you that I'm doing wrong, or is there anything I should do to improve? I'm still totally new. Thanks for taking a look.
Model: NIKON D3000 ISO: 1600 Exposure: 1/1250 sec Aperture: 5.6 Focal Length: 100mm Flash Used: No |

Yes, a larger aperture would have made this a much better photo. The background is too focused and is distracting because of this.

Thanks for the responses. I wish my telephoto lens would go wider than f/5.6 when I'm zoomed in. I looked online for a lens that would do such a thing, but sheesh they're expensive.
