Oh yea! Looking good. I would use the Dodging tool to brighten up his face a little bit, but yea, that lens is going to be sweet!!!

I will certainly try that. Something that I've never done before. Thanks!

Fine start!

Gotta love those really sunny days, right? I keep asking for an overcast day for track, but no such luck. I've been using the adjustment brush and brightening the dark areas in Lightroom. Then I might even do a little fill light in the end as well.

That 70-200 is on my camera 95%+ of the time.

Excellent capture except for the shadows--especially on the face. I saw a flash rig one time where someone had a monopod with a flash mounted upside down. They did this to shoot football games as the flash firing up would light the face in the helmet better. Always wanted to try that and seeing this shot reminded me of that rig.

Really nice shot. You snapped it perfectly. The shadow on his face doesn't bother me much because I can still see his eyes. That's a challenge in bright sunlight.

About how far away were you from the player? I just love that depth of field, it's magical.

Thank you. The sun hadn't made it straight overhead yet but it was getting close. I do plan on getting a clamp to rig the flash.

I'm not good at estimating distance but maybe about 20-30 feet away.

Thanks for the distance info. I've taken shots similar with the same lens but attached to a 50d and there is definitely a difference in IQ. I hope to get a second body in the next year or so and am kinda liking what I see from the 1DIII (the IV is out?). Still improving my skills though and saving the dollars

The 1DIV is out and too costly for me. I would love to have one though, maybe next year I can get a used one.
