Nice shot. You might see how you like it after cropping out the rider on the left. Also might see if it looks a bit better after lightening the expose just a bit...

I am by no means an expert, but I just photographed a barrel racing event a few weeks ago and cropped a lot of the shots. It really will be more pleasing to the eye to take out the other rider sitting off to the side. It really is a nice photo.

Nice timing! I also agree with the suggestions above. It would be better if you have cropped out the other rider. I would have wanted to see the subject pop out more from the background.

Cheers!

Default Practice Makes Perfect - New Crop

What do you all think now. I cropped and worked on the exposure a bit.
Thanks for the comments!

Great timing and excellent picture overall!
Just for fun I tried how it would look like in b&w, so I share it below. But hey, I like the color version eh?

Great shot! I like the crop too, you might like to try a soft boost of contrast and saturation as well. I think also that the horizon is throwing things off a bit, if you rotate it to the left some it should help. Nice capture!! (love the dirt flying!)

I like it. My only thing is: used to be that horse show photographers waited another fraction of a second for the shot - after the hind legs have left the ground but not yet at the apex/flat part of the jump. I think it's much more flattering to both horse and rider rather than catching the point where riders tend to throw themselves forward a bit. Don't know why that practice changed but it's worth trying.

I really like how clean this shot is. I can see that you use a low ISO. I thought it would introduce some blurring into the photo, but this is so sharp. Great shot!

Exactly. Shot is a bit flat so add some contrast. Slight rotation will also do wonders. Looks much better cropped.

Nice capture.
