Default Jiu Jitsu Tournament

Shot a tournament this past weekend. This one is my friend (on top), he's one of the most decorated grapplers in the country. He won his 85th and 86th championships this past weekend (difference classes of course). Working on my skillz....

Great timing in this shot. I just wished the players were further isolated from the background so they would appear to pop out more. I would suggest rotating the image just a bit to straighten out the verticals in the background.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about the background at these things. I'll look at rotating the image and see what I can get.

You could just cheat and apply a blur to the background with photoshop to simulate a shallower depth of field.

Well I've got a few medals from these tournaments myself so I'm not worried about being close.

Actually, there is a plugin (I forget the name of it) which is designed to simulate bokeh. My friend has it and it does work quite well and it's not hard to use.

There's one called "bokeh." I think it's fairly expensive. I'm sure there's more, but as far as I know, you still have to do the masking don't you?
