Default Baseball pitch composite

This was my first outing at the ball fields and my first time photographing sports. I played around with a few different techniques but am happiest with this one. It is a composite of four frames fired as fast as the camera could take them.

It was taken with a Canon 450D on a monopod
Sigma 70-300 at a little over 200
F/5.6
400ISO
1/640th
ambient light only on a cloudy day

I like the idea of it. The photo in the back, he's very ghost like in the middle, was that the intent?

Really interesting idea. I'm impressed with the way you've put this together. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Lori. I tried it with the entire layer set slightly transparent but it made that part of the picture look really weird so I just masked that part out. I'll try to clean it up a bit tonight and post the new edit.

Thank you, Linda. And you're welcome

Here is edit number 2. I cleaned up some of the layer masks to make the transitions a bit smoother and remove the ghosting.

I like the second version better. I like your concept for this shot. Brilliant. My only (minor) concern is perhaps the referee. It would be better (at least for me) if he wasn't cut off in the frame.

Cheers!

I think I have another photo with more of the ref that I could add in. I may have to photoshop in some trees and fence but since they are so far out of focus it shouldn't be too obvious they were added. I'll upload another one this afternoon

Thanks for all the help everybody!
