Default silhouette

i've taken a liking to action sports silhouettes because they are very dramatic, so tell me how am i doing in terms of composition and filling the frame in a usefull way?

this is my first attempt:

What is it? Looks like something mounted on a stick.

I'm with Wamplers... if you can't see the human form then you have lost something in the drama of the moment. Looks like your exposure was all teed up, but that particular frame just didn't communicate anything about the shot.

i agree with the subject matter being unclear though I did recognise what it was fairly quickly.
Maybe try cropping a little tighter around the boarder to reduce the black space and bring the proportions of sky to ground closer to third segments though i'm not sure if it would be worth it due to the loss of some of that lovely sun.

Just an idea, Neil
