Default My 1st post & showing first image , please be kind :)

I took this image shortly after i got my new camera for xmas - its not exactly a SLR , i have a Fuji S1500 but im getting there and working my way up to an SLR - gotta save first
Anyway i think this is the right place to put this pic - its of my cousin on his bike he was moving. Tell me what u think , like what u think i could improve etc.

Hi Jemma. Welcome to DPS. I hope you stay with us and post many shots for us to enjoy, and you to learn with. It is difficult to answer your question as it is very global. What did you want to portray here. Were you trying to show speed? Trying to get the background blurr? Intending to clip the top of his head, or disappointed that you did/ etc. Try and ask something specific, then we can get a conversation going, and MOST IMPORTANTLY keep shooting and posting. hi thanks for your reply ,i have been here for a few days just lurking around, i was quite disapointed that i choped the top of his head off , i did intend to portray speed and did want the background blurry. As for potraying what i intended how did u think i went with it?

I know it's hard for me sometimes to catch exactly what I want in sports when my subject(s) is/are moving so quickly. I'd suggest not to shoot that shot so tightly. You can always crop later. That will help you get more of your subject.

If you're going to portray speed, you'll need to shoot a little wider as well.
