Default Flash problem ?

I've resently bought a sany A200 and I really like it but the only problem I have is with the flash. Before it actually takes the shottt it flashes a few times before hand.....Is this suppose to happen ?

A few times or just once? Something like this maybe because of the red eye reduction function which fires a pre-flash so that the pupils contract before the actual shot. Have you checked your manual regarding that?

That is the "red-eye:" reduction mode. These minor pre-flashes cause your subject's eyes' iris to involuntarily close down BEFORE the actual MAIN flash, so their iris looks black instead of the blossoming red that is reflected from the back of the eyeballs.

There is a MENU option, under Custom Menu 1, in the A200 to disable the "Red eye reduc." mode. Look it up in the index under "Red Eye reduc." Just set the feature to "Off" and these pre-flashes will vanish.

EDIT: Oops, "Bojo" got there first. Good job!
