Default Remote Commander for Sony A200

Hi all!
I'm new here and VERY new to the photography world. I have a Sony A200, and I have a hard time taking self portraits. They always come out blurry, even if I put an object for the camera to focus on. I get really discouraged b/c I'm shy and feel a little ashamed for someone else to take my pictures. lol..it's sad but true. So, my question is, if I buy a remote commander(control) for this camera, will it be able to focus and take a self portrait clearly? Thanks SO much.

Lightbulb Remote Commander

The bad news is that SONY's "wireless" Remote Commander only works with the a700/a850/a900 DSLR cameras.

You will need to get your hands on a wired Remote Commander (<- click here)

or this more flexible and affordable non-SONY wired/wireless trigger, on Ebay.

You also might want to use "Wide" Focus, not "Spot" focus, unless you are absolutely sure you are 'dead center' in the frame. Also, setting the aperture to f/8 will make sure you have a decent depth of field with the lens to get a decent span of focus.

Thank you SO much for the GREAT info and advice. I really appreciate it. I've ordered an Opteka shutter release cord for the A200 to test out and see how that works for me. I will DEFINITELY try the wide focus feature along with switching to manual focus after my camera's been autofocused. Hopefully this will improve my pictures. Thanks again. If I get up the courage, I will post some pictures later.
