Question Good deal on an A100 with two lenses?

Hi all,

I'm currently shooting with a Nikon set up and came across a deal on an A100 with an 18-75 mm and a 75-300mm sony/minolta lens for under $400.00. Is this a good deal? I'm considering the purchase to use the Sony as a second body with the 75-300 on it when I go out shooting.

I know next-to-nothing about Sony's, so is this a good deal or should I be sticking with Nikon for my backup body?

Thanks!
Karen

Although I shoot with Nikon and Canon DSLRs but maintaining dual brands is expensive and not to mention duplication in lenses, flash, battery and accessories.

In the rush of things, shooting with a Sony and Nikon bodies may be confusing.

Another thing is that you have to keep up your knowledge in both brands. If you decide to buy a new lens in the future, you have to decide should you get one for the Sony or Nikon.

That makes sense. I hadn't thought about it in those terms... I was just thinking in terms of using the one lens on the Sony and leaving it mounted, while switching lenses (if need be) on the Nikon. I have a lot invested in Nikon glass, so I'm not planning on buying any lenses for the Sony.

Would it work with the body and the one lens or is it really that difficult to shoot with a different system?

If you have time to think then it may not be that difficult, but you may miss that 'decisive moment'.

That's why pro camera body has dedicated and programmable buttons for some functions to speed things up for the photographers in the field.
