I started with an A100 and when I overused the shutter button (too many sports photos
) and had to put it in the shop I upgraded to an A350 (because I could not wait 6 weeks for the camera). I have a Sigma 50-500 lens so went with Sony line when I made the initial switch to digitial.

I need a fast long lens I think as I do sports photography (see my website). I was on the B&H website today but I think I already have the longest lenses available for the Sony.

Yeah ... SONY is a little shy on the SPORTS glass. The Minolta AF 400mm f/4.5 APO is about the fastest light lens that was made. If you find one of these ... it is worth it. I think Labellecameras.com (<- click here) may have one around, but I'm not sure.
The alternative, which is turning out to be a rather "hot" lens is the new SONY 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G SSM lens. It is smaller than the SIGMA 50-500, but pretty much guaranteed to work on your A350. It is stated to be extremely sharp and acceptably quick on the focus. Another lens, but has a killer price, can be had at B&H Video. It is a Minolta 600mm f/4(n) APO HS (<- click here) lens, one of the finest and largest Minolta ever constructed for general use. SONY is also ready to release a new Super Telephoto ... which I believe to be a 500mm f/4 (but they are not saying). I am sure it will be similarly priced as the 600mm f/4. If you do buy one of these lenses, I would suggest trading in the A350 and picking up the A900 to put on the end of it, so you can milk that baby for all its optically worth.

I've enjoyed reading this thread, and indeed it is nice to see something other than Canon or Nikon in a thread. I looked at the Sony A200, (if that is the one that is comparable to the E520) and I liked it just as well. There was really only one or two features that made me decide on the E520 instead, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was. Perhaps the 'live view'.... I can't remember.
