Default Minolta Maxxum 70-210 f4 Beercan lens

Does anyone use this lens on their Sony Alpha series camera? I have just purchased one of these lenses online today and I have to say I'm pretty excited about it! I've read a lot of reviews and personal opinions on the beercan lens and they are all good. I just purchased a Sony A100 a few months ago, along with the 18-70mm and 70-300mm sony lenses. I'm totally in love with the camera....the lenses not so much. I have got some nice shots with both lenses but on average not what I was expecting. Of course a lot could be blamed on user error as I'm fairly new to the dslr scene. I'm really looking forward to trying out my new beercan lens when it arrives....and hoping it lives up to my expectations. Anyone else care to share any comments/advice regarding the 70-210 f4 beercan lens? Also, what other lenses would be good to add to my collection? I'm thinking a 50mm prime lens might be a good one to have.

I haven't got any experience with the beercan lens, but I can vouch for the 50mm. I picked up an old Minolta 50mm 1.7 lens cheap on Ebay and it works great with my a100. It's super fast and great for snapshots and street photography.

I've heard some say that the kit lenses that come with the Sony cameras are nothing to write home about. I got mine with a couple of Tamron lenses that I've been very happy with. As you get the funds, that is a good brand to look into.

Best of luck and happy shooting!

I think you will love the lens.

I have been sucked into the beer can frenzy too. Prices are getting a bit crazy on ebay at the moment, but seem to have got a good deal. cant wait to try it on my A200

It`s popular lens and thats why they are a bit crazy with the price. I got mine now 2 months and got it for a bargain. € 72,00. Its a good lens with a nice bokeh and sharp from 70 - 210 mm. You will be happy with the lens.
