I haven't got any experience with the beercan lens, but I can vouch for the 50mm. I picked up an old Minolta 50mm 1.7 lens cheap on Ebay and it works great with my a100. It's super fast and great for snapshots and street photography.
I've heard some say that the kit lenses that come with the Sony cameras are nothing to write home about. I got mine with a couple of Tamron lenses that I've been very happy with. As you get the funds, that is a good brand to look into. Best of luck and happy shooting!

It`s popular lens and thats why they are a bit crazy with the price. I got mine now 2 months and got it for a bargain. € 72,00. Its a good lens with a nice bokeh and sharp from 70 - 210 mm. You will be happy with the lens.
