Question Just received Sony a300X

Feeling a little overwhelmed. I am worried I am not going to get the whole manual thing. I tried doing some focusing in manual but wasn't too successful. Any literature suggestions to help give some tips?

There's a lot of material in this forum. Happy shooting. I started with the Program mode...

Hi there...I'm new to the board. I just got my A300 the other day as an early birthday gift...

I agree it was a bit much for someone new to DSLR, and the manual is a bit unhelpful. I did some researching and found this book which you can get an online version of for $19.95 - https://friedmanarchivespress.stores...opy-detail.htm

I found it extremely easy to follow and it really enlightened me on both the camera and ways I can improve my photography.

Hope this helps!
Joe

P.S. I do not work for the book publisher or writer. I don't want my first post to come across as a spam advertisement. I just really liked the book.

I think looking outside the Camera's Manual would help a great deal. I would recommend picking up "The Digital Photography Book" by Scott Kelby (Both Volume 1 and 2) they both give lot of good tips to help beginning photographers. Also, ask lots of question here. There seems to be a good number of people who can help.

I just picked up volume 2 the other day...unfortunately, they didn't have volume 1, but I did order it.

I definitely agree...very helpful, and it is really easy to understand. His focus is on Nikon and Canon cameras, but the functions he talks about are all available, and as easily accessible, on the Sony.

I especially like his suggestions on lighting...

Default try this...

Hi, I got my 2 week old A300x as well using the manual mode just play around with the settings go min to max aperture and shutter speed. Make a note by making a graph then compare each result.
