I have a Sony Nex it seems to take good Pictures but can i use it for Wedding photography or like sr pictues and what e mount lens would you reccomend i like to take pics of birds and flowers and little macro stuff. Also portraits i know i will prob need more then one lens but will this camera do the job or did i get ripped off by the camera shop. Im not into so much of manual focus so it has to be a e mount lens. I more or less like to take pictures of lots of different things. But if i was to do weddings or portraits what kinda lens would be best?

Have you tried turning on the focus peaking for manual? There really aren't a lot of great e-mount lenses at the moment. The 50 and 24 are supposed to be pretty sharp.
Alternately, you could get the LA-EA2, and use Alpha/Minolta glass, but that defeats the purpose of a small camera.

The Main Problems im having is i had a cannon s3is before and i liked the flexibly of it i could zoom in very far i could take decent maco photos and portraits but the low light noise was horrible. I would like to pics for like senior pics or weddings as a extra money hobby. Which kinda Lens would fit me best. Would a 55mm portrait Lens be better then the
E24mm F1.8 ZA wide angle lens.(So what Would this be on a nex?) E50mm F1.8 portrait lens.(does that = Like 80mm on a Nex?) or would a super zoom like the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC Lens for Sony E Mount Cameras be sufficant? |

I hate to say it because I love my little NEX, but at the moment and for the time being, the NEX-3 is almost certainly unlikely to be sufficient to take wedding shots. Something like the 18-200mm lens will get you enough reach, but you won't have enough light to take the shots you want, especially in a dimly lit church. A 50mm lens would be helpful for portraits, but again, you're going to find yourself limited if that's your only lens for low light especially if you're in a small space.

So after looking at tons and tons of camera reviews what is a efficant camera to invest in for those types of pictures , i kinda feel like i got ripped off by the porter cameras sales man. My Price range is probably around 1,000$s for a camera , not much left over for lens so i duno if there is a big kit i can buy problobly 1,500 at the most, but i kinda feel jipped casue i just spent so much on the nex c3 and i duno if its worth investing any money in dif lens if they are all junk.

How is the NEX Pic quality com-paired to a big dslr. I'm thinking it might be my lens but when i take indoor photos they all look kinda grainy or out of focus everything outside is fine and sharp most of these were taken at 1600 iso inside my apt but to me they look very grainy and the NEX is suppose to be decent at higher iso's right? Too me they are too noisy. or what can i do to fix this or is it because of the 3.5f 18-55 kit lens
whoops i forgot to flip them but they should still give you a idea Inside Pics 1-18-2011 124 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! f/4 exp 1/50 ISO-1600 1-18-2011 058 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! 1-18-2011 183 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! f/4.5 exp 1/60 ISO-1600 |

You're underexposing, so you're seeing more noise. Noise appears more prominent in darker areas of a frame. Are you shooting in Manual mode? Or in an automatic mode?
Learn to use your histogram. Personally, I think you might be better off going for a dSLR, if you can't wait for Sony to build out the lens system. It takes time for a camera company to build out a lens system, and Sony is a little slower than some, given that their priorities are electronics, not optics. It took them a long time to get the Alpha system lens offerings up to scratch (no cheap 50/1.8 for about three years), unless you could afford the Zeiss ZA lenses. And the NEX system is only 18 months old. Also, for shooting at weddings, if you're thinking of doing as a pro with a pro-level kit, you simply can't find fast telephoto zooms in the mirrorless native mounts, yet. There are some fast primes, but the only cheap ones are manual focus only adapted lenses, not so much the native ones. Not sure why you'd feel like the store cheated you, though, unless you specifically asked them to recommend a camera for shooting weddings. If you just asked them to give you something with high image quality that was easy to use, then they gave you an appropriate recommendation. Sony's E-mount lenses aren't crap. There just aren't very many of them at the moment. In a few years, this is likely to change. If you can wait, then hang onto your NEX. If you can't, then ditch it and find a camera body in a system with more lenses. The reason dSLRs are nice is because those mount systems have been around for thirty to sixty years, so there are a LOT of lenses to pick and choose from.

I actually bought my Sony Nex C3 and I know nothing about cameras and I'm only at the stage where I am using the manual to learn how to use it . So far I like it and I think I will stick with it for now.
I also use Sigma Telephoto zoom lens - 70 mm - 300 mm - F/4.0-5.6 for my long range shooting (esp. my kids playing at the park and also great for zoo pictures). Its not the best lens but its a cheap one I can use while learning. |
