I've been studying the lens options for Sony Nex cameras recently, and I noticed there was no ultra wide zoom lens available in E mount. Nikon has a 10-24mm and Canon has a 10-22mm. Will Sony come out with something similar for E mount? I'm planning on buying a Nex-5N, but if I end up with a different camera it's because of the lack of lens options.

There's this: Amazon.com: Rokinon FE8M-NEX 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Sony E-Mount Cameras (NEX and VG10): Camera & Photo
And there are a million adapters available. I use my Nikon glass on my FS100, and it's great. I have a 5N on order, and I'm jonesing for some Leica glass. You don't get AF, but with focus peaking, you really don't need it. In some ways, I think MF with peaking is better than AF. Definitely in low light. Think about it less as a camera system, and more as a universal digital back. The mount is so shallow that you can throw just about any lens on there.

Yes, I noticed that these cameras have a whole bunch of adapters, and that's certainly an advantage. The problem for me is that I don't have a dslr nor do I have a collection of lenses to start with. I did notice that sony released information about the E mount system to third parties for no fee. Hopefully, we'll see several new lenses soon.
Oh, and what's so good about Leica glass? I hear about it often. |
