Default yet another lens compatability question

Hey everyone, I'm now considering buying new glass as opposed to Minolta AF lenses due to availability (and price depending on rarity). The first lens I want is to replace my 18-55 kit lens. I'm considering the 16-70mm F3.5-4.5 Sony/Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens and the Sigma OS 17-50mm ES DC F2.8 HSM lenses. If I'm not mistaken, these lenses are specifically made for use for cameras with APS-C sensors (or at least the Sigma states it is). What I'm wondering, is if I can ever afford to upgrade to a body with a CMOS(?), will these lenses still work?

thanks in advance

Exclamation

You are probably asking about compatible lenses for fullframe cameras like the A850 or A900.

The Sony/Zeiss 16-80 is a fullframe lens so it will work on either APS-C or fullframe. The Sigma is only compatible with APS-C so if you would use it on a fullframe camera it would only work with limitations (reduced image size).

I would also consider the Tamron 17-50, this is the most used lens in this range.

However, the Tamron 17-50 is also crop-body only.

The crop-body designations are:

Sony: DT
Sigma: DC
Tamron: Di II
Tokina DX

You see those in the lens name, it's only good on a crop body and cannot be "shared" with an A850 or A900.
